The main advantages of thermowood (thermally modified wood):
Geometric stability
the sizes of the workpiece do not change under the influence of the external environment, which greatly simplifies further work with wood. Thermowood products do not lead, they do not dry out and do not shrink
Ease of processing
there is no residual stress in thermally treated wood, which makes it much safer and better to carry out mechanical processing of such material.
Visual appeal
a change of color to the entire depth of the board, the wood acquires a dark color, the pattern and structure are emphasized, which generally gives a more attractive appearance.
Moisture resistance
the hygroscopicity of thermal wood is so low that furniture and floors for bathrooms and baths are made from it.
Heat treatment technology and a general description of the camera process
Any type of dry wood can be heat treated, the moisture content should be no more than 10%. In the case of thermal modification of wood with higher humidity, there is a risk of cracking of the wood during processing. The processing itself in our thermal chambers takes place in a steam-water environment of high pressure at temperatures up to 225°C. After heat treatment, the moisture content of the wood is 4-6%.
The Sukhoviy KTMD thermal chamber is already a classic among equipment.
The chamber is not of a pass-through type, cylindrical in shape, with double insulation and electric heating. Loading and unloading of the stack into the chamber using a mechanized electric drive. Process control is automatic and programmed by the operator before starting work. The three main modes of operation are recorded in the controller's memory.
The main stages of working with the camera:
- loading a stack with lumber. It should be noted that when forming a stack, you have to use crossbars with a height of 20 mm and make sure to form spaces of at least 30 mm (more details in the instructions for the chamber)
- closing the chamber with 8 screw connections
- programming chamber modes. Depending on the type of wood and board thickness, the operator programs the number of stages and the processing time (the main programming modes are specified in the instructions for the chamber)
- after turning on, the chamber works in offline mode for the next 4-5 days, the presence of the operator is not required
- after all the programmed processes have passed and the temperature in the chamber has dropped below 75°C, the chamber can be opened
- opening of the chamber and unloading of lumber. The camera can be put into operation immediately after unloading the finished lumber, no additional downtime or maintenance is required

In the standard version, the chambers are made of steel, have double insulation, are equipped with electric heaters and an electromechanical drive for loading. If necessary, the chamber can be manufactured according to individual requirements (changed stack size, stainless steel, etc.).
